You are hearing more and more about the Lasik Vision Center both in the media and from friends and coworkers. Many people you know have already had surgery and are thrilled with the final results-not having to wear glasses or contact lenses. Why are more and more people every year choosing to have their vision corrected by the Lasik Vision Institute?

There are a few very important reasons why people like the Lasik Vision Institute. They advertise that they have:

* Extremely qualified surgeons – they employ leading medical professionals from around the country and they are personally responsible for your eye care.

* Secure technology – they use FDA approved laser technology during each procedure.

* Confidence – their medical professionals have performed over 500,000 procedures.

* Personalized care and treatment – the medical professionals are extremely qualified and they work with you to offer you a choice of laser vision correction based on your individual needs (whether you want LASIK, LASEK, PRK and Custom Wavefront technology).

* Affordable – they offer reasonably priced procedures and easy financing so that everyone can have their vision corrected.

It is reasonable to be anxious about any surgery in or around your eyes. The Lasik Visition Institute understands your concerns and wants their patients to know about the pros and cons of having laser surgery.

You may feel some anxiety about laser vision correction. The laser eye surgery procedure is fast and reliable, and most people will be able see better than they did with their glasses or contact lenses. But, there is no guarantee that you will never need glasses or contact lenses again. Lasik is a great procedure, but it is not perfect and everyone’s eyes are different. You may find that you still need glasses to drive at night.

If everything is okay, you will have your lasik surgery and go through your recovery period. The Lasik Vision Institute staff will answer your questions and provide you with suggestions on what to do after the surgery. It will take a few weeks during your recovery, but your eyes should get stronger and your vision clearer. Most people can return to work the day after their surgery with little or no discomfort.

Take your time, think about your options and then make an informed decision about your lasik surgery. You may end up with 20/20 vision and never have to wear glasses or contact lenses again. Or, you may find out that you do not qualify for this surgery. Either way, you took the time to learn about the procedure and know your options.

If you still want to use the Lasik Vision Institute perform your surgery you can be sure that they will provide you with all of the information you need up front. This includes the costs involves and monthly affordable payments. Their procedures can be as low as $299 per eye and up depending upon the type of surgery performed.

What are you waiting for? You have always wanted to get rid of your glasses and now you know about the Lasik Vision Institute. Contact them and see if they are the right medical group to perform your surgery. They are just a phone call away.

Do you mean PRK, or Lasek ? (*not* Lasik)

Traditional PRK is less comfortable, and takes longer to heal than Lasik or the newer Lasek.
"After the PRK surgery, the surgeon places a soft contact lens over the eye to help the outer layer to grow back and this can take 3-5 days, during that period, the patient may experience discomfort and blurred vision. "

As far as the main layers of the cornea are concerned, however, it is much less invasive than Lasik and the epitheium does quickly regrow. (the epithelium is continually losing and regrowing cells, under normal circumstances)

Optometrist, retired.

Its gonna suck but itll be easier if i can just smoke weed and sleep all day. So is there any danger in smoking weed after laser surgery? Most likely not but i want some opinions.

I think, after that procedure, you have to be very careful not to rub your eyes for several days after, and perhaps remember to use some eyedrops or something (not sure about this) but it would be better if you were not totally messed up on weed and risk accidentally doing something that totally messes up your recovery. You’re spending a lot of money for this operation and you only got one set of eyes, so if at all possible, don’t do anything that would risk the outcome.

Laser eye surgery has been such an enormous boon for the “seeing-eye” world that thousands of people with defective sight problems can thank this relatively simple and quick procedure for restoring their sight to acceptable and satisfying levels. But are you aware that their are risks associated with laser eye surgery?

It’s foolhardy to think that any type of surgery is risk free and laser eye surgery is no different. The question you have to ask yourself is whether the benefits of having this type of procedure outweigh the risks and in most cases patients will choose the former.

The good news is that the chances of suffering serious vision-threatening side effects from laser eye surgery are extremely low. But there are risks nevertheless and you should be aware of them.

What Are The Side Effects?

Corneal infection is always a possibility following procedures such as Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) and Lasik. However, the risk is so low that when it’s presented as a possible worst case scenario to patients, they generally dismiss it as non-threatening. The percentage factor is something like 0.1 per cent which is extremely low. Those who experience it will suffer no long term effects and it usually means a slower healing process and some extra discomfort. It’s hardly reason for concern considering the benefits from receiving the surgery.

Corneal infection aside, one of the more common side effects of laser eye surgery is what is termed as under or over correction. What does this mean? Simply put, it’s difficult to predict exactly how a patients eyes will respond to treatment so in some cases, corrective lenses may be needed in the short term or further surgical treatment is scheduled.

Dry Eyes

Dry eyes are another side effect of laser eye surgery but again, it’s not sight threatening and can be treated easily with lubricating drops. Patients are generally more worried about the inconvenience of the extra healing time which can amount to several weeks.

PRK patients in some instances will report a condition known as corneal haze. Corneal haze occurs during the recovery process and while it is not threatening in the majority of procedures, there is always the possibility that vision could be impaired somewhat if the haze becomes excessive. As a prospective patient, you should be made aware of this but again, it shouldn’t affect any decision you may make in going ahead with surgery.

Lasik Risks

Flap damage is a risk for lasik patients. The worst case scenario is that the flap could be irrepairably damaged or even lost however, once again the chances of this occurring are extremely low. Another risk for lasik patients involves the possibility of suffering a distorted corneal shape which may occur during healing. If this occurs, it will have some impact on the overall quality of vision.

If you are concerned about the side effects of laser eye surgery then you need to discuss them with your surgeon. We’ve covered a few but there are others, including a condition known as regression. It simply means that the eye may retreat to it’s former state following surgery. This could occur several months following the procedure and further surgery may need to be scheduled. The bottomline… yes, there are risks associated with surgery but in the world of “laser eye” they are extremely low.

Last time everyone said no to the laser eye surgery so is PRK diffrent also what is this I hear about only 10% can be and will that change thx.
Damn, you guys are bitchy.I am just asking a question,I know that I already asked it and I did acknoledge that ,but how am I supposed to know what is true when I get a whole bunch of diffrent answers?

For the folks who thought it was repetitive, nobody forced you to answer(and to be honest if that is the type of answer you are going to give I do not need your help),for the person who said I wanted you to predict the future I did not but I wanted to see what you think you could have simply said "I cannot tell what they will do",for the person who called me stupid I did not know you had to type everything perfectly, srry ill tri hareder nxt tyme.

So this is all I will say, if you think it is getting repetitive or something E-mail me your thoughts on the subject and I will think about .But it does not help to try to come up with the most witty thing.

What more do you want ?

I gave you a link to an Air Force .mil web page that said, yes you can have PRK and be a Pilot.

Do you think the Air Force is lying ??

Did you even go read the web page?

How is anyone here, supposed to know, what the Air Force will do 2 years, or 5 years from now?

You haven’t stated your age, so we don’t have any idea just how long it will be before you had a college degree and tried to get a pilot slot.

Your best bet, no matter what your current age, is to wait until one year before you apply for a pilot slot, and then research the situation again.

There will be advances in eye surgery by then, maybe by then the Air Force will have new rules.

But just remember, for ROTC students, you apply for a pilot slot as a Junior. And as part of the application procedure, you have to complete a Class l physical, the PRK would have to be done a year before that physical.
